Ok, sorry I haven't blogged in a while, taking care of a small person really cuts into your free time.
I have to say this, as cliche as it sounds, being a mom rocks. How come no one tells you how cool it is? Yeah, pregnancy sucks, and so does childbirth, but everyone says it and they are right, it's soooooo worth it. I love my little doodle bug so much, and he's so cute (personal opinion only). I am just loving this so much. If it didn't suck so much to have more, I would already be pregnant, but I think not for a long while. He's just so cute, even when he doesn't sleep or he's crying, he's just perfect.
I am not sure how I got so lucky, but I did. I am also blessed to have an awesome husband who helps me with him, who loves him so much, and who is very dedicated to his family. What did I do in my life to deserve this?
Anywho, just wanted to say hi. I'll write more about knitting soon, I have been working on a sweater for little guy, as well as working on some handsewing of some funky little animals for him when he gets a shade bigger.

Sorry guys, been a bit busy as the little one came 5 days early.

He's a keeper. I cannot believe this last week. He was born by c-section, after 14 hours of labor where I was not progressing at all. My water broke at 10:00 that morning, with no contractions. They tried to induce me with meds, but he wouldn't drop, probably because he was so large. So, my wonderful dr took pity on me at decided to do a c-section. Not a fun experience, but totally worth it.
I will write more when I can.
As of tomorrow, I am officially full term! Yippee! Ok, baby, come on out.
We took a baby information class yesterday, mostly about the birth experience. I learned several things, let me share some of them with you:
1. I want my epidural, plain and simple
2. Labor is scary
3. You cannot count on anything, everybody has a different experience
4. I want my epidural, did I say that before?
I have the upmost respect for women who have their baby with nothing, you are a badass. I, however, am not. So I want drugs and I want them now. I hope I can do this. I am trying not to be afraid, although it's hard. I am just trying to focus on the end result.
I'm almost done with my knit baby blanket, so as soon as I am I will share.
Hi guys.
Well, what's new. Let me think. I am five weeks tomorrow from my due date, so I'm getting larger and more uncomfortable all of the time. I have trouble sitting upright for long periods, because the baby has decided to put it's feet and knee into my rib cage. Ouch! I see why it becomes so easy to want to deliver, as you can hardly move around anymore.
I have also decided that since I don't know what this child is, I am not going to be knitting much for it until after it is born. I don't like the unisex colors I find besides like white or cream and you can only knit so much white stuff for a newborn. I did finish the bolero from one skein in cream, so that's nice, and I made small pair of booties. I think I will just wait now. I have almost finished knitting a baby afghan based on the stupid dishcloth pattern, and I am crocheting one too, which is a little over halfway done. Tonight is knitting night with the girls, so I am hoping to finish my blanket and work on my crocheted one as well. I am also making a Sheldon the Turtle from Knitty. He's on his way too. Too many UFO's right now, including this person growing inside of me.
No work on the baby's room yet. We finally got to move back upstairs into our bedroom this week, so no more sleeping on the floor. That was becoming a big challenge. It's drywalled, painted, and my closet should be done in the next week so I can put all of my clothes away. That will be so nice. We were tearing up the carpet and found beautiful hardwood floors up there, that really needed nothing done, not only did it save us money, but an argument over the carpet. I am going to find a remnant to put berber in the baby's room and down the stairs. We are getting a new window put in the baby's room next week, so I am truly excited about that. I think today I will go to my parents and work on the quilt for the baby's room. It's been really rainy here, so I can't do too much outside.
Anyway, hope you are all doing well.
While you are waiting for a knitting post, and I promise, one is coming soon, I thought I would tell you about this cool band. They are local, from Des Moines, but are represented on a good label out of Iowa City. If you have never heard them, check them out. Here are a couple of links. They write all of their own music. I know that some of you, especially Shelby, might find their sound interesting. In a side note, I happen to know the lead singer and he rocks, and on top of that, they love Johnny Cash, which is very noticeable in some of their sound.
